CoS pal Sheriff Baca gets FBI probe of his jail's violence

Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca is a long time friend of CoS,* and may be one reason they get favorable treatment by the police, and police don't probe RPF abuses in LA County .

The Rachel Maddow Show Wednesday night said Baca is in trouble since he is head of the LA County Jail, where the FBI uncovered a gang of guards, flashing tatoos and gang hand signs, that beat up prisoners for no reason. The LA Times** is more coy, but does say there is a "rift" between the FBI and Baca.

LOL. Not a chance. The LAPD doesn't need encouragement from Sheriff Baca. Elliot Abelson & Mike Rinder told me over a decade ago that the cult had the LAPD in it's "back pocket". Their schmoozing with the cult is evidence of that.

There has long been friction between the LAPD & the LASD. The City of West Hollywood was once patrolled by the LAPD until the city council grew weary of LAPD abuses of the gay community. The LASD now has jurisdiction and there has been a continuing political war engaged between the two on where the borders of West Hollywood lie.

Two years ago, the LAPD engaged in a gay entrapment sting which resulted in numerous arrests. The LASD went to court and asserted that the LAPD violated its boundaries; the court agreed, and the LASD dismissed the sting entirely & charges were dropped against those arrested. Several of those people have pending lawsuits against the LAPD and LASD deputies have been willing witnesses in their cases.

I spoke to Tiziano Lugli, the ex-Scilon who was visited by Mike & Marty last year, and were chased & almost run off the road by one of the cult's P.I.'s, who was subsequently arrested. Tiziano said the LASD deputies "absolutely despise" the cult & Sheriff Baca's support of the cult, some quietly referring to Baca as a "celebrity whore."

The problem is that the LASD, like the LAPD, has a military command structure, and deputies know that openly dissing a higher-up in the department could doom their careers, so they keep their disgust for Sheriff Baca amongst themselves.

Scientology has an article in Impact 127 "Los Angeles county " which discusses their interactions with the LAPD and LASD . (pp. 46-51). They also published this letter from Baca in the same issue:

The ACLU and the ACLU of Southern California filed a federal class-action lawsuit today charging that Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca and his top commanders condoned a longstanding, widespread pattern of violence by deputies against inmates in the county jails.

"Long before he made the news for allegedly smuggling a heroin-stuffed burrito behind bars, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Henry Marin was a reality TV star — of sorts. In the first episode of Fox's reality show "The Academy," which followed a class of Sheriff's Department recruits, Marin was portrayed as the dim-witted class bumbler."

Henry was booted out of the academy, but allowed to try a 2nd time, and he passed & became a LASD deputy.

I don't see Sheriff Lee Baca-and-Scientologists photos lately, but I assume they're still buddies. Baca is STILL overseeing his Los Angeles jail which is rife with abuse.
