My advice to Marty, is the path he long decided on his own, which was to get a job as a reporter, which he did, to some degree before he got all this new business the last couple years, of people wishing auditing repair and auditing services from him.
To me, he should do a job not related to Scientology at all, some job he loves doing, just per the book, "What Color is Your Parachute" says is the best way to find a job, namely decide what job you love doing, and go apply for that job. (Hopefully you don't love scamming people, as your job of choice though.)
Since he was an investigative reporter for that local paper, I would have thought that investigative reporting would be his fallback career, especially if he loves it.
My advice would be, for working in the media, if he likes it for real. And auditing people, as a hobby sideline, rather than his main income job.
Scientology is just not gonna be a big seller today, outside of the people who've been trained by the official church, and he's just picking up the defectors who've been mishandled case-wise (inevitably, since I don't myself think Hubbard's "case handling" tech is NOT by a long shot something universally beneficial, it's just not), and getting "new" raw public is the same old losing long range battle it has always been.
You just can't sell high volume dead space alien souls exorcism talk therapy! It's just unethical not to discuss in normal language one's offered spiritual therapy. And the upper OT levels, as LRH wished the final bulk of the upper levels to consist of, OT levels 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 are high volume exorcism of mentally messed up dead alien souls that infest each of us, supposedly.
No way to honestly discuss this openly, without people rejecting it outright.
The subject when told honestly, just loses customers.
So a backup career, or rather one's main life's job, ought to be something you love doing, my advice, from the "What Color is Your Parachute Book", which I learned about, from Jeff Hawkins, and that's the best advice I've learned!
