I had an appointment set up with an agency that hasn't contacted me since before I left $cientology for good. They had my phone number from that time on record and tried that before they got hold of my new number. The person who dealt with me said they got a not in service signal on the phone number. That was several years ago that I changed numbers so I thought it was kind of strange.

Then I thought about it. I think what has happened is that anyone who gets the number gets inundated with cult of $cientology phone calls at any time of the day or night. While I was connected to them I got phone calls (not a lot but I did get them) at midnight, 2 a.m., and 4 a.m. The phone company has probably decided just not to issue the number for a while.

That's all speculation. $cientology will have that old phone number listed with about six or so different orgs and each of them will have it in three or four places internally. Even if the person with the number manages to convince one or two of them that I am not at that number any more the calls will still keep coming in.

With my new number I was getting calls for the former user of the number for many years after I got it. I finally got a phone system that lets me block calls. It's a feature I only found out about by reading the manual completely and it's only good for thirty numbers. As one person said, 'It should let you block three thousand numbers.' Still, I love that feature.

I doubt that's the case, especially if it's AT&T. I sometimes get telephone calls for individuals that had my phone number before I got it 13 years ago.
