Gigantic coward the New York Times finally does a TomKat divorce story and they put it in the fucking "fashion and style" section:

I deleted my comment, it was misplaced here.
(the article is actually a lot better than it seemed at the beginning, even though it is in the wrong section as it makes it seem as if this was about a lifestyle fad, not an abusive totalitarian organization)

LOL. TomKat dispute far from contained. I guess Katie has already been declared a "suppressive person" for suing Tom for a divorce then.

It appears that Katie was able to maintain an intellectual distance from the claws of scientology. She observed how true intimacy with the Kool-Aid-drinking Tom was made impossible by CoS. This girl deserves a huge reward for what she had to overcome in order to accomplish her freedom from this insanity.

I look forward to Katie's career taking off now, same as Nicole's did after getting out from under Tom's insane obsession with scientology.

For Scientologists, Divorce Is No Simple Matter
Quote:
...couples face unusual marital counseling sessions and are sometimes pressured to use in-house divorce lawyers.
One former church member who underwent this type of marital counseling is Carmen Llywelyn, 37, an actress and photographer who was once married to Jason Lee...
a chaplain, also known as an auditor, questioned them for hours. “You do it until the needle is flat... “They think that once you unload all these bad things, you’re going to fall madly back in love with each other.” And when they didn’t, Ms. Llywelyn said, she was assigned an in-house lawyer. “Scientologists aren’t allowed to sue each other,” she said...
Yet sometimes, according to Claire Headley, another former member, the church encourages divorce. Ms. Headley said she was told that she must divorce her husband of 12 years, Marc Headley, or be kicked out of...Gold Base.
...
Steve Hall, who lives in Dallas, said he blamed the church for the dissolution of his 16-year marriage to Sue Turton, after he decided to leave the church and Gold Base in 2004.
With tears streaming down both our faces, we hugged each other and then she was taken away,” Mr. Hall wrote...

QUOTE: "Before deciding to divorce, the couple agreed to pay for a form of counseling that Ms. Llywelyn said entails sitting in a room answering questions while hooked up to a device known as an E-meter, which Scientologists believe can detect unexpressed thoughts".

Yeah, no shit. I was made to endure several days of "co-auditing" when I decided I wanted to divorce my wife. And then, I was sent to "ethics" which I did for a couple of days before telling the ethics officer that I'm done. NOT coming back.
