Reconnecting family billboard

Post by I'mglib » Mon Feb 29, 2016 6:34 am

People can decide how to donate money, of course, but I would just like to mention that this idea to put a giant billboard on Hollywood Blvd, asking disconnected family members to call home, sounds like a cool idea.

Right now, the site shows they've collected $7,775 of $8,200 needed, from a total of 136 donors, in ONE DAY.

Obviously, there are a lot of people who want their families back. That works out to about sixty bucks per donor.

What great news that the Jones parents reached their goal, and that it was Bunker regulars like The Hole Does Not Exist and Artoo that helped design it. http://tonyortega.org/2016/02/29/billbo ... wood-blvd/ . More contributions might get more billboards, in spots seen by Scientologists.

Map of billboard locations near Hollywood, Calif., http://www.outdoorbillboard.com/billboa ... /hollywood There's a $2300 billboard spot in Glendale, where many Scientologists live, http://www.outdoorbillboard.com/billboa ... lendale-ca.

Yes! Here are 3 billboard spots in Moreno Valley, Calif, through which execs and key workers regularly drive from LA to Gold Base, (though they could take a detour through the residential streets to avoid the billboard) http://www.outdoorbillboard.com/billboa ... o%20valley

Right now the total is at $9682 out of $8200 needed. What a testament to the number of people who hate disconnection. The extra money will buy more time that the billboard can stay up (or more billboards) so this is fantastic.

Will the church firebomb it? Also, there is a very real chance that no billboard company will run it out of fear :(

I can see it now, OSA madly sending people out to apply for jobs at billboard companies.

If CoS fights it, it's the Streisand effect,* giving tons of free publicity against CoS.

The site http://stopscientologydisconnection.com/ has a heading titled, "Books on Scientology." I clicked on it and the resulting page has a heading but no books mentioned or listed. If the site's administrator wants a list of books on Scientology, I have a list on WorldCat.org.

It doesn't have every book out there on Scientology, but it does have 66 titles listed.

Phill just posted that at the last minute, after everything was signed and ready to go, the billboard company CANCELLED the contract.

On Tony's blog Intergalactic Walrus theorized that the reason is that billboard company, Outfront, also sells advertising to Scientology, and probably didn't want to lose their business. He posted the following photo, which is a billboard near Celebrity Center, which has the name "Outfront" at the bottom.

Buy a shrink-wrap treatment for a van and drive it alot on L Ron Hubbard Way, past the Celeb Centre, etc. Park it for hours at a time.

Phil is going to look for other places to do the billboard, so I'm sure he'll find something, either on Hollywood Blvd, or I imagine Sunset Blvd would work too.

J. Swift wrote a damned good essay on this whole saga.

It's kinda sad the cult still has some sway when it comes to stifling objections to its despicable practice of disconnection

Everyone who didn't see this coming please raise your hand. There is no way the Scions were going to allow this.
