And do you also contend, Suzanne, that the Cleveland Street Safety league has nothing to do with the Co$?

Why that's proflex they're trying to smear. The same guy who produces that Cult Watch program on channel 96 of the Pinellas County's public cable access channel. What an odd coincidence. |
Prufrock,
Your fondness for dragging unrelated irrelevancies out in support of a non-story has me smiling.
I did not contend that CBA had nothing to do with CoS. I said they were *not* the CoS. Several posters claimed previously that Foley received funds or a fundraiser from CoS. That would have gotten CoS in trouble with the IRS, if it had ever occurred.
Is the claim being made by anyone here that Mark (Pedophile) Foley
is a Scientologist? Is anyone claiming that the Scientologists who gave Foley a luncheon and a copy of the 'Way to Happiness' knew that he was a pederast?
If not, is there a real connection here? A real story? Or just tabloid crap? |

Well, according to the reports, it's not even really connected to Foley;
He just figured out he's gay or something...
And was molested by a priest...
And is an alcoholic...
While walking to school up hill in snowstorms - both ways...
In hand me downs...
With a seeing eye dog. He went a bit mad with the 'victim card'.
If the Co$ has deeper dealings with him, it'll come out. |

SuzanneMarie, you said, | Quote: | | It seems a tenuous connection... | , but since CBA is a CoS front group, obviously CoS was trying to get its hooks into Foley. You have a point that there is no proof they succeeded. Still, it would be interesting if Foley, in a panic, got lured into a Narconon sauna. This thread is part fun speculation, part alert for Clearwater news hounds to figure out where that creepy Foley is detoxifying in Clearwater. |

I expect Foley to come out with a press conference in which he professes to be an 'Alcoholico-American' any day now. (Sarcasm discaimer) |

The only thing of interest to me is that it began with Foley’s judgment being way out of whack by sending those messages - but now we’re learning that in addition to his sex messages he’s also a good friend to the Cult of Blithering Lunacy. This means his judgment is not just broken but in complete tatters. And it will take more than a few fistfuls of niacin to get him out of this mess.
So now we know what SM has been assigned to today. _________________ "What a lot of people don't realize is that Scientology is black magic that is just spread out over a long time period."

As Don Carlo pointed out, Suzanne, the CBA (and for that matter the CSSL) is just another front group trying to further the twisted agenda of the Co$. Perhaps you've been in the cult for too long to realize that the general public has a negative opinion of the Co$, hence the need to trot out a stalking horse like the CBA, CCHR, Applied Scholastics, or Narconon.
But I'm glad I can bring a smile to your face here on OCMB, Suzanne, because as we've all witnessed, there's no joy in $cientology. _________________ "Just think, I turned to a cult for mindless happiness when I had beer all along." - Homer Simpson

Breaking Rumors: My Clearwater source claims that Rep. Mark A. Foley is undergoing a phony detox at Clearwater Narconon because he is not an alcoholic. This source claims that Foley got hammered and then showed up drunk and paid the ~$15,000 "No Refund" Narconon fee for detox.
Paparazzi with boatloads of cash have been spotted cruising Clearwater in search of Foley's whereabouts. Reporters are also snooping around. Security at Flag is reported to be heavier than normal.
The Foley tie-in appears to be that he worked to get Clearwater Narconon federal monies to teach Narconon's Scientology message in surrounding area schools.
| Quote: | The director of the new Clearwater Narconon, Cheryl Alderman, a Clearwater resident and a longtime Scientologist, sank $100,000 of her own money into the venture and opened it quietly 10 months ago. She obtained a license from the state's Department of Children and Families to operate as an outpatient detox center. The program got a boost from Clearwater Mayor Brian Aungst, who issued a proclamation for "Narconon Day."
Now Alderman plans to do what no other Narconon program in the country does: Get taxpayer assistance in the form of state and federal grants. She also plans to seek referrals from local court systems and permission to teach a Narconon-based prevention program in Pinellas public schools. Pinellas County Commissioner Susan Latvala and Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judges Linda Allan and Linda Babb have toured the facility and left impressed. Pinellas Public Defender Robert Dillinger said he could envision courts sending offenders there. |
ref: http://web.tampabay.rr.com/sp/FLA.html
My source claims that Foley has been known to be a not-so-closeted gay man in Florida and in D.C. for at least five years and that he is not an alcoholic. The claim is that phony detox is Foley's way of buying time while he figures out what to do next because he has been devastated and his life is ruined. My source says, "Look for 'Foley is suicidal' PR next because Foley is playing for as much sympathy as possible." All of Foley's friends have abandoned him and he is said to have no life outside of being a Congressman.
Here is the blockbuster claim: Narconon will turn Foley over to a non-Scientology facility in the next 24 hours because the FBI will interview Foley and Scientology does not want it to be at a Narconon facility.
I am wating for hard verification of these claims. The only thing I am sure of is that A) Rumors are flying, and B) Foley does have a relationship to Scientology of some kind. I have heard claims that Foley is an OT III; that he never attested Clear; and that he dances to Scientology's tune because OSA had blackmail on him several years ago.
It will be interesting to see how the Scientology aspect of this story plays out. Foley could always claim that Scientology auditing made him insane. If there is a Foley pc folder in Flag I bet it has already been shredded, pulped, and incinerated.
Mark who?

Narconon Clearwater, Florida:
| Quote: | We are an outpatient facility located in Clearwater, Florida Our outpatient facility was design for the "functioning" addict, which allows the addict to maintain his life and family. Our clients come from all over the U.S.A. for our New Life Detoxification program alone. We have day shifts and evening shifts, with the evening shift reserved for clients who work during the day. Not all addicts meet the criteria on an outpatient bases. We are the only outpatient facility in our network, the other facilities are in-patient residential. Please make a note that all Narconon's deliver the exact same program. We do not use drugs to get addicts off drugs. This first portion of the New Life Detoxification program is 35-45 days that is a very intense sauna therapy. What happens is the drug residue traps itself into the body's tissue, with sauna and a very high regimen of nutritional supplements; those toxins are released. Until those residues are removed for one's body; is he free of the drug cravings.
Our life repair courses are designed to help the addict get through the damage they have caused and basically how to handle life away from drugs and recognize a potential trouble source; that portion takes 3-5 months .
Narconon is a worldwide organization for over 38 years with a documented outstanding success rate of 87%. National success rates of other facilities fall between 16-18%. The Narconon program is on volunteer bases only. The need and desire to get clean are the main criteria's for admission. We do not take court ordered addicts or addicts that have a prize at the end of recovery. We can not allow bad vibes around our clients that are here for one reason; to get clean. |
Narconon Clearwater is outpatient. If Foley is there he is only there part time and is staying somewhere nearby to plan his PR and legal strategy. Could Foley have checked into the infamous Fort Harrison??? Where does a guy like Foley go when he has problems? He goes to people who owe him favors and Scientology owes Foley some favors.

Swift, I surely hope that your "source" is at least directionally correct. BTW, if Foley is at a kult facility, you can bet your bottom dollar that the FBI will be there eventually. No one hides from the FBI, and when they come, they will not leave until their warrant is satisfied. Woe be unto the Kult who intakes Foley for treatment. The first center will be investigated thoroughly. IMO, anyway.

Some potential Foley connections
| Quote: |
And it turns out Foley was no stranger in Clearwater.
At a 2003 Scientology meeting, Foley gave a speech and was photographed happily accepting “leatherbound copies of Dianetics and The Way to Happiness.
In 1999, Foley joined three other Scientology-friendly politicians in condemning Germany for outlawing Scientology — German law is very strict about cults, because of previous problems.
The Clearwater Scientologists also held a fund-raiser for Foley’s aborted Senate run; he dropped out after the gay thing was mentioned.
And on Friday, the Creative Loafing blog in Tampa reported that Foley attended a Scientology gala in Los Angeles five years ago.
|
| Quote: | Also participating in the press conference were: Sen. Mike Enzi
(WY), Rep. Matt Salmon (AZ), Rep. Mark Foley (FL) and the actress
Anne Archer. | - mentioning the ones that were speaking out against Germany for its stance on Scientology. _________________ The Truth of Scientology |

Strange but true.
juju leaves, and SuzanneMarie appears.
Seems that the CCHR (a scientology front group) has been unable to get Mark Foley's image off of their webpage.

Hard to beleive the cult would willingly associate with Foley now that the shit has hit the fan. They have enough problems on their own without being associated with this NAMBLA card carrying pervert. I say willingly, they may have to due to aforementioned favors or whatever. If the media finds they are harboring him,... well sit back and enjoy the show!
I noticed on FSO websites they prominently feature Foley attending cult luncheons and other meetings. Wonder if he will be photoshopped out? |
