Hubbard Management Tech

Postby Giggles » Mon Apr 09, 2007 7:07 am

Seems like it's just one after the other!

Real estate experts say land contracts or "rent-to-own" deals like those completed by TotalBiz 247 raise a number of red flags, both legal and ethical.

The TotalBiz deals basically boil down to flipping schemes with a delayed closing, according to Bill Bartlett, a former president of the Indiana Association of Realtors and the Hoosier State Chapter of the Appraisal Institute.

"It's preying on people who don't know any better," Bartlett said.

"I was the manager of this company's web design and customer service for long distance sales branches. I had to field untold calls from untold customers whose elderly relatives, often in nursing homes or assisted living conditions, were "slammed" or otherwise scammed into the company's long distance service. The office regularly received letters from lawyers and state attorney's offices around the country regarding this issue. What's more is that the company is run on the principles of Scientology; all the upper management were members of the Chicago Church of Scientology and WISE, another Scientology organization. My self and the 9/10 of the web design team went on strike and were fired because we refused to take Scientology "courses", which we were assured was just company training. These courses had nothing to do with web design, and every book was written by Scientology founder and science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard. I'm very pleased to see this company finally getting what it deserves."

Interestingly enough, this isn't the first time for this guy.

Apparently he/they dabbled in phone services that went bad.

http://www.fortwayne.com/mld/fortwayne/ ... 930794.htm

in part:

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. - Attorney General Steve Carter is investigating a Merrillville company accused of either switching long-distance telephone customers to its phone service without permission or putting unauthorized charges on customers' bills.

Carter's office is looking into about 40 complaints that Buzz Telecom engaged in what's called "slamming" and "cramming," said Carter's spokeswoman, Staci Schneider.
.
.
.

Buzz Telecom, which is owned and operated by brothers Kurtis and Keanan Kintzel, at one time had 50,000 customers and employed 100, according to Kurtis Kintzel. He attributes the company's troubles to trying to grow too big, too fast.

"We're one of the last of the small guys out there," Kintzel said. "We rode it until the ship was filling up with water."

The brothers are now out of the long-distance telecom business and focusing on their Buzzazz Web-page design venture, Kintzel said.

A predecessor company to Buzz Telecom, Business Options Inc., also owned by the Kintzels, was investigated by the Federal Communications Commission in 2003.

In 2004, the Kintzels entered into a consent decree not to engage in deceptive marketing and agreed to pay the FCC $1.28 million.

Here's more on the real estate transactions they've been involved in recently:

Home sale scheme features hidden sellers

There are several accounts in the article, here's just one.

Kaboom!

A would-be seller, Francine Jewett, described her experience with TotalBiz as "good" -- for about a year. Then TotalBiz failed to make the mortgage payment on her Griffith home for two months running.

That put her in default on her mortgage.

"That's when they started this whole, 'we'll make it right' dance," Jewett said recently in her office at Purdue University Calumet in Hammond, where she teaches.

To this day, TotalBiz hasn't made it right, she said. She and husband, Stephen, are now set to make their fifth monthly mortgage payment on the Griffith house.

"Anger, disgust, and frustration -- total frustration," Jewett said. "That's what I feel."

A letter from the couple's lawyer in January notifying TotalBiz it was in potential default on its sales contract with the Jewetts went unanswered for months.

Now, Kintzel has told them he'll "let them out" of the contract, she said.

Jewett said TotalBiz clearly defaulted on her contract, meaning she won't have to enter into any type of settlement. She now doubts TotalBiz contracts could be enforced in the first place.

"We had high hopes when this started," Jewett said. "And then, kaboom!"

FCC wants Buzz Telecom owners clipped

The Federal Communications Commission wants to collect up to $49.5 million in fines from Merrillville-based long-distance carrier Buzz Telecom for unauthorized billing of consumers and failing to abide by a previous agreement to desist from deceptive marketing.

The FCC accuses Buzz Telecom and owners Keanan Kintzel and Kurtis Kintzel of a "pervasive pattern of misconduct that includes slamming" and failure to pay required FCC surcharges totalling millions of dollars.

Buzz Telecom and the Kintzels could be slapped with one of the largest fines levied against a U.S. telecom provider in recent years, if an administrative law judge rules in the FCC's favor.

Docket before the FCC dated September 10, 2007
http://www.fcc.gov/eb/Orders/2007/FCC-07-165A1.html

snipet:

22. In sum, the Kintzel brothers, through their various businesses, appear to have engaged in a pervasive pattern of misconduct that includes slamming, failure to make universal service and TRS contributions, failure to seek appropriate authorizations from the Commission, and, most recently, failure to honor their obligations under the Consent Decree. The extensive list of apparent violations, and the fact that the misconduct appears to have continued after prior enforcement proceedings were resolved through a negotiated Consent Decree, plainly suggest that the Kintzel brothers and the entities they control have little regard for the Commission's rules and the compliance responsibilities of a common carrier. Such egregious behavior is patently inconsistent with the obligations of a Commission regulatee and calls into question whether the Kintzel brothers are qualified to be and remain interstate common carriers. Consequently, appropriate issues are specified below to determine whether the blanket authority conferred upon the Kintzel brothers, as defined herein, to provide common carrier services should be revoked and, further, whether they should be required in the future to refrain from providing such services without prior written application to and consent from the Commission.

Oh, and in between court dates and hearings they sponsor and manage a little league baseball team too. Interesting? This is PR, written by themselves.

I just want to add one more link here for now.
nwtimes article from March 2007.

The comment section is interesting reading as well.
Someone just made an entry to this old article in their defense.
A character witness of sort. Wonder who?

http://preview.tinyurl.com/ysxyjw

Howard, of the Kentucky attorney general's office, said one case in particular crystalized the Buzz Telecom case for him. He asked Kurtis Kintzel whether or not he had third-party verification for one elderly gentleman in particular.

Kintzel said yes, he had the recording and could send it.

"I said that's probably not plausible, because that person has been dead for 15 years," Howard said. "He (Kintzel) said there must have been a mistake, and I agreed with him."

Another misunderstanding?...LMAO

I haven't read about these guys in awhile but......

From memory I think they dumped/sold the Buzz Telecom
company and left the mess for the new owners to clean up.

Here's some info on their Buzzazz web business still operating.
I remember looking into this a bit, and the sites were very cookie cutter.
Will have to look again soon.

Sorry to ask this here guys but not sure where else I could find an answer.
My question relates to the Hubbard Management system. Is it legit and does it work? Or is it a big waste of money?

Hubbard management is toxic and not effective. They want you to join WISE, a Scientology biz-management front which tells you to
(1) make elaborate organization charts
(2) "manage by stats" meaning if someone sells X widgets or sees Y patients, next week they MUST sell X + 1 or see Y + 1 patients.
(3) Short term results are all-important, so gouging customers is AOK, unless they are high-ranking Scientologists.
(4) Swallow the dogma that Scientology training will make employees more productive
(5) Pay WISE membership fees and the president should join Scientology
(6) In the worst case, pillage company money for donations to Scientology "charities"
(7)Hire barely-got-thru-high-school second-generation Scientologists as staff. Then they can snitch on YOU to WISE, if you aren't WISE enough.
(8) Screaming, rewarding snitches, and employee-blaming are not taught, but the authoritarian slant often encourages it.

Often managers are prodded to make their employees take "voluntary" "management" or "leadership" courses which are pure Scientology. If the employee refuses, the manager often retaliates, and then gets sued for forcing religion on the employees.

DO NOT JOIN WISE.

Big waste of money.

That is it's a big waste of money for the person in business who takes it on. Joining W.I.S.E. (World Institute of Scientology Enterprises) has a yearly fee and takes a percentage of gross income. After that the main activity the business will engage in is recruiting people into Scientology. It's a good deal for Scientology, not for the business that joins.
