I posted this earlier today and deleted. There was a large earthquake in China. It was reported that the epicenter was South and West of Beijing, but that it was felt in Beijing.

Reports now coming in that the epicenter was closer to Beijing (which is where Kendra lives).

----

Astra has called to check on Kendra but only has a home phone number.

Kendra is supposed to be on her honeymoon.

I hope she is ok.

Anyone have a way to reach her?

I don't, but if it's any consolation, they're talking about 9000 killed out of a population which is 5 times the size of LA, which means that 1999 out of every 2000 people in Beijing survived. As a tourist, she was probably in a building which was sturdier than the average residence. So... try not to worry too much. Odds are strongly in her favor.

I tought about that too BK. I checked quite a few times on ESK to see if someone would of written something about this.

I know we should not worry too much but still...hard to not to worry at all.

I do hope she is OK. I feel confident she is. I doubt she would be honeymooning in China.

Thanks guys. Really I want her to know we are thinking about her. She will come back and see this, you know...

I am sure (and hope) that she is ok.

Had a big earthquake here in the midwest a couple weeks ago, but no major damage. Maybe the US is more prepared for that type of thing?

That death toll report was for all of China, not for Beijing. The epicentre was near Chengdu. Quite a long way from Beijing. I reckon she's OK.

Got an e-mail from one of my sisters and her husband this morning (Wednesday). They arrived in Beijing yesterday for a two week round trip in China. According to them, the earthquake was 1000 kilometers away from Beijing.

Does anyone knows where she went for her honeymoon?

I am worried as I am pretty sure she knows many people would worry about her and she would of giving news, at least just to say she is ok.

No one knows anything??

I think Grundy from ESMB knows where she went, but he's still worried. He didnt tell me where she was going. But he was still concerned for her.

He sent her an email, hoping that she will check email. I dont have any current info if he ever heard back from her.

I will see what I can find out.

Hey everyone, Grundy heard from Kendra. Sorry if I was overbearingly concerned. (Just the lack of it from the Sea Org made me pendulum swing...)

Here is the letter:

Quote:
Hey Grundy,

Good to hear from you! Sorry I didn't write back for a couple of days - I'm
trying to stay away from the computer.

I'm fine. We were actually on a plane to Xi'An right as the earthquake hit -
we hadn't taken off yet. We felt the earthquake all the way in Beijing while
we were grabbing some noodles in the airport. Anyway, the plane was delayed
for a couple hours, but that's about all the inconvenience we suffered - so
don't worry, we're not dead.

Right now I'm in this amazing little enclave outside of Guilin. We've got a
river right in front of our room, and huge karsts, and bamboo rafts... the
whole thing. We're having a great time. Leaving for (edited by Grundy) in 2 hours. Talk soon!

-K

Excellent, good to hear it!

And nothing wrong with concern, really!
