London protest video for 13th September

Coming out of lurking to post the latest vid. Some observations about the day...(cross-posted at Enturb)

1) Numbers were between 50 - 75. Both at QVS and TCR, there did not seem to be an increase at TCR as some people were expecting would happen.

2) The police at TCR clamped down hard on my movements. As i do not do this for personal profit, i was not wearing a press card. This lead one seemingly senior officer at TCR to 'inform' me that i was not allowed to take footage unless i was behind the barriers for the protestors. When i explained that i was not there to protest and was there to document the proceedings i was told (paraphrasing) - 'either you are behind the barriers and part of the protest, or you are with the Scientologists no their side of the street...otherwise, go away.' It was the first time in seven protests that i have attended that the police have given me a hard time for filming them. This was quite disheartening to be honest.

3) There were two Scientologists who were conducting interviews with members of Anonymous around in a side street. i filmed two of those interviews - but over half a dozen were conducted. It will be of interest to people that at least one of those two people i witnessed being interviewed were quite 'anti-Chanology' and were quite aware that their answers would be used to smear the protest 'cause'. They seemed quite proud of themselves for 'ruining Chanology' by doing so.

4) There were more flyers coming out from the Scientologists, they are back out to 'play' it seems.

5) A representative from Liberty had been sent to clarify limitations of law for anybody who was interested. This, i feel, was of great benefit and should be applauded.

6) The number of cars/trucks/buses honking their horns had increased DRAMATICALLY. Seriously, about three out of every five cars seemed to be honking their support at some stages. The public seems more aware than ever as to what these protests are about.

We shall see how the video goes, overall though it was quite difficult to get good footage both because of lower numbers and mainly because of police 'hostility' at TCR. Although it would probably be legal for me to ignore the limitations placed on me by that particular officer as they were somewhat outside of the legal boundaries (as the representative of Liberty clarified for me), had i chosen to push things too much they would have taken me in for something.

Some interesting things worth thinking about. From an outside perspective these protests had a very different vibe to them than any that had proceeded. It has to be said though that the effect was still very detrimental to Scientology, with many public interested (and even already knowing) about what was going on.

Those questions from the scino film crew were hilarious. Just what kind of propaganda video are they intending to make? Whilst Anonymous is publishing stark videos from the Hamburg conference, about the rip off, the abuse, the forced abortions, the beatings, the mind control etc etc, there's the cult filming in the streets of London asking about goatse. Well, that just about says it all.

Thank you, Vled, for documenting the protest -- but especially for documenting the questions asked by the scientology interviewer.

I'm hoping you preserved the answers to those questions given by the interviewees.

I'm aware those answers might not be what we would hope for, but nevertheless, I hope those answers were documented...

I guess a memo must have come out from Scieno Central to do the interviews, because they did the same thing in Southern California.

To me, the only answer that makes sense to every one of these questions is WHO CARES? I'M HERE TO PROTEST THE ABUSES OF SCIENTOLOGY

Vled, in what way was the vibe different in London, compared to the other protests?

The questions asked were essentially a survey. There will be staff somewhere who will collect all the material from all the interviews done. From this they will come up with a list of "buttons" and an overall "emotional tone" for anonymous. They will then use those "buttons" and the "tone level" they discover and make signs, messages and other handling material specifically for anonymous.

There may be other information that will be looked for, such as where and who are the leaders of anonymous.

I predict many assignments of "liability" and "lower" coming out of this effort.

It is absolutely going to be used as "evidence" that Anonymous are terrorists. Similar interviews were done on psychs, and the worst possible answers were picket out to make anti-psychiatry videos for Scientology events for regging millions for the IAS and for the CCHR exhibits.

"Survey" is just the shore story.

When they approached me, I said, "I don't agree to this interview," and repeatedly asked the guy to show me his list of questions. I even moved into his space to get a look at it but he hid it away. From the peek I got, it appeared to be a computer print out of a dozen or so questions. I said I wasn't going to answer anything until he showed me the paper. He started mechanically reading down the list; after every question I said, "Next question." I got bored after the 6th or 7th and went back to work.

The person in the video asking the questions mumbles frequently. I transcribed his questions as best I could. Where I couldn't get what he said, I indicated it in brackets.
