Hello, this is my first post on OCMB so be gentle with me guys n gals, nah just kidding about the gentle bit, I can take it. Having been a Church of Scientology member for 25 years I have seen and done a bit, I was on staff as an SO member for 3 years until I blew with the Dissem Sec and both got declared back in 88'. We worked our butts off to get back into good standing and got through our A to E steps by 95' with "Restoration To Good Standing".

Yeah you may wonder WTF...they actually wanted to be in good standing, well there you go we did at that time for many reasons.

My story pales into insignifiance against others I have read. But when my wife and I became aware of the abuse being dealt our daughter we decided that our time in the church had to end and we made every effort we could to get her out of the SO, she had been in there since she was just 15 yrs, she is just about to turn 20, we got her out in February this year.

I have decided to post on OCMB too, I consider the more points where ones story gets aired the better chance of others getting informed, like today I happened to just by chance mention to someone that I had been a scio for 25 years but no longer, this person immediately told me she was about to go and find out about Scientology from the church as she'd had an interest in it. Well she isn't going to go there now, I consider that that is one person "saved" if ya like from that groups grasp.

She probably under-estimates by a huge factor just how much grief I just saved her. Well angels never get the thanks they deserve:)

I am so happy to see you here OEO! Hey there fellow OCMBers, James is one of the good guys!

I think one of the most important things we can do as EXes is to help people realize that scientology is a cult and "cut them off at the pass" so to speak so that they don't take that dark and unlit path into the horrors of Hubbardsville.

Welcome James. Your daughter can get into a community college by just passing an English test (math test needed for Science courses), so she can quickly make up for lost years of high school. There are lots of slightly-older students there and in four year colleges, so she can finally have some fun and sharpen her skills.

Don Carlo gives good advise, hope you'll consider it.

Rescuing your daughter from a possible lifetime of mind control is a wonderful thing. Funny how those paternal instincts are more powerful than the most cunning of mind control techniques!

And BTW- you are an angel for rescuing that lady! It's amazing how just a few words can change a person's future path- and their whole life.
