If LRH was joking, as you say, and there really are no civilizations
and freight trains and implant stations on Venus (and Mars?), then
perhaps we DON'T get implanted with R6 at such stations during the
period between our meat lives? Isn't that a logical thing to ask, if
the Venus comments are just a joke?

And if we aren't implanted with an R6 refresher between lives, perhaps
the Earth is not really a prison planet, and perhaps there ARE no body
thetans at all? If there is no need to clear ourselves of body
thetans, why does anyone need to join Scientology to learn how to
break the alleged cycle of these occurrences?"

As has been noticed in other contexts ('The way out is the nearest door'), Hubbard tended to leave evidence of his scam out in the open.

I was reminded of this when I came across the following in an Ex-Mormon site (thanks Ned Ludd and Kilia for awakening my interest).
