I work across from a movie theatre, and the manager came in while I was working last night and confirmed:

Hancock is terrible, and no one is going to see it.

Note: This is a town so small, so deprived of entertainment, that the teens hang out at the Wal-Mart. The movie theatre is very popular, especially in the summer.

And Will SMITH couldn't sell a movie to this town?

Will without Tom
They make a point of supporting each other on almost every occasion, but it was a Tom-less Will Smith last night at the LA premiere of Hancock. To make up for the GMD’s absence, Will took over his persona – hootin’ and hollerin’ like a man possessed, every action, every smile, every turn of the head was a little bit extra. The GMD was there in spirit.

Here are Will and Jada with their children – you’ll recall, I reported long ago that Jada’s been homeschooling her kids using Scientology principles which was apparently how Scientology inclusion in the New Village Academy was conceived.

Rumour has it, Tom Cruise was actually supposed to be there last night for his BFF but given the controversy of late over Xenu’s involvement in the school, it was supposedly decided that it would be best for him to lay low.

The GMD is dragging Will down.

Up to this point, Will has rarely made a mistake. In Hollywood, he’s been riding a long, long winning streak. But critics have been tearing Hancock to pieces. In all likelihood he will still own this Fourth of July…though on the off chance, if he doesn’t, perhaps it’ll give him cause to rethink his closeness to that little man who’s been hanging off his jock. Perhaps.

UPDATE to OP:

Another story about ethics on http://exscientologykids.com/eskforums/ ... 149da5e801
I would like to give an example about how they could go overboard on the Ethics.

My first year at Delphi, I went to Ethics because I felt like a social outcast and my faculty advisor had suggested I go to Ethics for a cycle to focus on how to establish more comm lines with other kids. I was fourteen years old, I wanted to be "normal," you know?

Well, about the same time, I went down to Ethics for falling behind target and for falsely attesting to having made my reading target (which I confessed to). I wrote up all my relevant O/W's.

Later, I was working with one of the student Ethics Officers about how I apply my study tech, since I was falling behind target. We were reading a book together, and then I yawned a little bit (yawning being a symptom of having a misunderstood word). I told the student Ethics Officer that I had an MU, but she said it looked to me like I had just taken an extra gulp of air. And I was telling her it felt like a yawn to me, when all of a sudden, the main ethics officer comes out and she's really irritated and she says impatiently, "He's wasting our time! If he does it again, you send him down to the scullery!" And then to me, "KNOCK IT OFF! You know the study tech, you know the symptoms, you know how to apply it, YOU ARE WASTING EVERYBODY'S TIME, KNOCK IT OFF!"

Anyway, after she leaves, I feel pretty "enturbulated," shaken up, I'm trying not to cry. The student ethics officer tries to console me. Then the main ethics officer tells me to organize my stuff. So, I'm doing that, still crying silently, when finally the main ethics officer says, "You are really getting on my nerves! Take your stuff to your room and don't come back until you're ready to clean up your act!"

So, I go to my room, feeling really upset, ashamed, stressed out, scared for my future, crying...

Finally, I go back to the ethics reception. The Ethics Officer takes me into her office and she says, "Okay, so your faculty advisor asks me to have you come in here so that we can help "Mr. Weirdo be more 'normal'" and then at the same time, your life completely falls apart! You are constantly being disrespectful of Scientology, always attacking it, etc." (True, I was constantly disagreeing with things Hubbard wrote and getting into arguments with my Scientologist roommate) "Why are you here if you don't like it?"

"Well, I.... I..." I said, stammering, raising my arm in an awkward gesture (I'd always had awkward, weird mannerisms).

"Stop doing that with your arm! Quit being weird!" she snapped. "I think you have EVIL INTENTIONS. I think you have MORE OVERTS AND WITHHOLDS TO WRITE UP. Write up as many as you can think of!"

So... I believed her. I was an evil person with lots of overts and withholds. I started writing up every single thing I could think of, every little bad thing I had done my whole life. I even wrote down thoughts I had, like how I hated certain staff members. At the time, at fourteen years old, I was entertaining suicidal thoughts, because I felt like a social outcast and I was so afraid of failing and growing up to be a loser. I wrote down my suicidal thoughts in my O/W's.

The next day, I was sent home and expelled. That was one of the most heartbreaking experiences I'd had in my life.

And that was my ruin that really brought me into Scientology. I wanted to be accepted back into Delphi, because I felt like I was no good unless I was able to graduate from there.

This Ethics Officer, I won't say her name... she had an irate, sarcastic personality. She knew how to be intimidating and she'd be intimidating on purpose to get out-ethics students to shape up. But in this case, I think she went a little overboard to the point where it was psychological abuse. I wouldn't have written about any suicidal thoughts in my O/W's if she hadn't been so hard on me.

But... I have to take responsibility because it was my choice to be there. After all, she did ask me, "If you don't like Scientology, then why are you here?" I should have taken a hint that perhaps the school wasn't the best fit for me.

The other times I was in Ethics at Delphi, my ethics cycles weren't so stressful or scary. It was just that one cycle during my first year when I got expelled.

I can tell you this: Sony and Will Smith are scared of Anonymous right now. I learned this through Hollywood insiders. This explains many things that Plups and others have discussed on this thread.

Will Smith is usually so PR savvy. So why did announce his "Scientology School" so close to the release of his new movie Hancock? People in Hollywood are asking if Will Smith has any language in his Hancock contract with Sony that punishes the actor financially if his "personal beliefs" harm the expected earnings of the movie.

Is there indeed a "Scientology Clause" in Smith's contract? I ask because "Hancock" reportedly cost Sony ~$150 million to produce and about $70 million for the ad campaign. That is $220 million and now Sony execs are obviously wringing their hands over the immense amount of negative publicity that is being generated by the "Will Smith "Scientology School" story.
I'd suggest the movie has bigger problems than Anonymous and the Will's Scientology School right now.

The problem, Plups, is that Sony execs won't be sure where one ends and one begins: Was the movie declared terrible just because it was terrible, or was it declared terrible because reviewers and common folk alike detest Scientology?

It isn't always "chicken and egg" either, and the execs know it; if a critic dislikes Scientology and knows that Will Smith is a crypto-Scieno, the critic could well be predisposed against Hancock from the beginning. It could have turned a "Well, the movie wasn't too good, but Will Smith's done some stinkburgers before and come out all right" into "This movie is the END of Will Smith's career. It is the most awful thing that I've ever seen in the superhero genre."

The thing about this? The Sony execs, and Will Smith, don't know how much people were influenced. A movie career is built on hype and PR and destroyed the same way; and the two things together (Will Smith's Hancock Sucks + Will Smith Is A Scientologist) could devastate him.

Remember, Tom Cruise was considered an invincible superstar not too long ago, and there's no doubt in picture exec's minds that his Scientology had something to do with his career crashing and burning. How much? They don't know. But are the people running Will Smith's career willing to risk it?

Literature exposure begins with exposure to books, reading aloud, and visits to the library. For reading and writing, NVA uses the Heron Basics Program, which covers reading, writing, handwriting, phonics and spelling, all done in concert with a high volume of writing and reading. It is a traditional reading program that utilizes phonics and literature, phasing out phonics as children become fluent readers. Students develop increasing comprehension skills relating to inference, sequencing, prediction, and character motivation as they explore various genres. The key ingredient of this program is that it is completely individualized for each child, and pace is at the exact level of the student.

LANGUAGE ARTS

Language Arts begins in Pre-kindergarten with exposure to books, reading aloud, and visits to the library. For our language arts program, NVA has chosen to adopt the Teachers' College Reading and Writing Programs for Fall 2008. Additionally, literature circles with higher level chapter books integrate social studies concepts into language arts. Students develop increasing comprehension skills relating to inference, sequencing, prediction, and character motivation as they explore various genres. Yes, I'm sure the setup complies with Hubbard's specs.

Notice the cartoons on the wall of the Applied Scholastics courseroom for teachers, and the image at the bottom, where the staff member (probably the wordclearer) is helping the adult student with a cartoon. This "tech" is regressive and infantile.

ABLE is to OSA as Social Coordination was to the GO.

Hubbard states in Scientology "scripture," that study tech is the cult's "bridge to society." The ethics penalties to which NVA staff and students are subject make their use of study tech anything but a "secular" activity. Packaged with, and inseparable from Hubbard's study tech, is the Suppressive Person doctrine, which necessarily includes fair game, the scriptural treatment or handling for SPs.
HCOB 4 April 1972R Ethics and Study Tech by L. Ron Hubbard wrote: HUBBARD COMMUNICATIONS OFFICE

REVISED 21 JUNE 1975

IMPORTANT
Word Clearing Series 48
ETHICS AND STUDY TECH

The basic Why of the majority of cases of post nonperformance of a staff member and OUT-TECH in an org stems from misunderstood words.

The primary point that has to be gotten in is study tech.

This is also our bridge to society.

Yet study tech is the tech that includes misunderstood word tech.

Thus if study tech is not in, people on staffs see nothing wrong with hearing or reading orders containing words they do not understand and have no urge to look them up. Further, they often feel they do know words that they in fact do not know.

When this situation exists, it is next to impossible to get study tech and Word Clearing tech in. For the orders seeking to get in study tech may contain words the person does not understand. Thus he doesn't really comply with the orders, and study tech does not get in. Thus the ability to hear or read and understand continues to be missing.

Therefore, these ethics actions become part of standard ethics:

1. A PERSON MAY BE SUMMONED TO A COURT OF ETHICS OR EXECUTIVE COURT OF ETHICS IF IT BE FOUND THAT HE HAS GONE PAST A WORD HE DOES NOT UNDERSTAND WHEN RECEIVING, HEARING OR READING AN ORDER, HCOB, POLICY LETTER OR TAPE, ANY AND ALL LRH WRITTEN OR PRINTED MATERIALS INCLUDING BOOKS, PABS, DESPATCHES, TELEXES AND MIMEO ISSUES WHICH RESULTED IN A FAILURE TO DO DUTIES OF HIS POST, WITHOUT HIS AT ONCE MAKING AN EFFECTIVE EFFORT TO CLEAR THE WORDS ON HIMSELF, WHETHER HE KNEW HE WAS MISSING THEM OR NOT, AS THE SOURCE OF HIS INACTION OR DAMAGING ACTIONS.

The charge is NEGLECTING TO CLARIFY WORDS NOT UNDERSTOOD.

2. A STAFF MEMBER WHO DOES NOT USE STUDY TECH OR GET IT KNOWN WHILE STUDYING OR INSTRUCTING MAY BE SUMMONED TO A COURT OF ETHICS OR AN EXECUTIVE COURT OF ETHICS.

The charge is FAILURE TO EMPLOY STUDY TECH.

3. A STUDENT ALTER-ISING OR MISADVISING OTHERS ON THE USE OF STUDY TECH MAY BE SUMMONED BEFORE A COURT OF ETHICS.

The charge is ADVOCATING A MISUSE OR NEGLECT OF PROPER STUDY TECH.

4. AN AUDITOR FAILING TO CLEAR EACH AND EVERY WORD OF EVERY COMMAND OR LIST USED MAY BE SUMMONED BEFORE A COURT OF ETHICS.

The charge is OUT-TECH.

5. ANY PUBLIC DIVISION PERSON, STAFF MEMBER OR SCIENTOLOGIST FOUND USING TERMS, CIRCUMSTANCES OR DATA ON RAW PUBLIC IN PUBLIC LECTURES OR PROMOTION OR IN PR BEYOND THE PUBLIC ABILITY TO GRASP WITHOUT STRESSING STUDY TECH OR AT ONCE TAKING EFFECTIVE MEASURES TO CLARIFY, OR RELEASING MATERIALS BROADLY TO A WRONG PUBLIC MAY BE SUMMONED TO A COURT OF ETHICS IF ANY FLAP OR UPSET RESULTS.

The charge is FAILURE TO APPLY STUDY TECH IN DISSEMINATION.

SUPPRESSIVE

Furthermore, as study tech is our primary bridge to society and the basic prevention of out-tech and out-admin, if any offense as above found guilty in a Court of Ethics is REPEATED and the person has had two such courts on this offense, the person may be summoned before a Committee of Evidence on a charge of COMMITTING AN ACT OR OMISSION UNDERTAKEN TO KNOWINGLY SUPPRESS, REDUCE OR IMPEDE SCIENTOLOGY OR SCIENTOLOGISTS, and if found guilty beyond reasonable doubt, may be declared a SUPPRESSIVE PERSON and expelled with full penalties.
