Paula Quigley has died

Post by ZenWarrior » Wed Nov 07, 2007 9:33 pm

Paula Quigley, a life long Scientologist, has died of lung cancer.
Paula was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer and battled valiantly, undergoing repeated chemotherapy treatments. In May/June 2007 she was in a brief period of decent health living at an assisted living facilty in Los Angeles, Kingsley Manor. During this time I spoke with her weekly and attempted to keep her spirits up. She even colored her hair! (For those of you who knew Paula, she loved to do this) In late June she learned the cancer had spread to her bone - a death sentence as it would now travel throughout her body. A fighter to the end, she went for heavy last ditch chemotherapy in late June and was on heavy morphine to withstand the treatments and the pain. By the end of June her phone was disconnected and I learned she had been transferred to the hospital for her final days. I knew and loved Paula back in New York City in the late 70's and early 80's. She was a lifetime Scientologist, I was only passing through, having realized within a few years that it was all a scam.
To her dying day Paula was a dedicated Scientologist. She was even trying to lightly "handle my upset" with Scientology during our phone conversations and was going to send me a packet of materials "to help me understand some things" She never did as time ran out for her before she could. Paula was a lovely being, she was just brainwashed at a young age and had nothing to compare her Scientology beliefs to.
SHE GAVE HER LIFE TO SCIENTOLOGY - AND FOR WHAT?
Let us all who managed to escape such a sad fate give thanks and take a moment to think a kind thought for Paula and tell her that her life meant something to those she touched.

ZenWarrior,

I am sorry for your loss and her family's loss as well.

How tragic to believe that this cult will somehow be there for a person in their time of great need.

Zen Warrior,

What a sweet message, and what a good friend. Thank you for making this post.

It is SOOOOOOOOOO sad for me, each time I hear of another Scientologist
dying of Cancer. I know they try to lesson the blow by saying, "Lots of people die of Cancer". I guess my brother put it best to me, years ago, when he said:

"Tory, we're less than one year apart in age. I know 1 person who has died.
You have a cast of tons of people who are d e a d, many of them your very good friends".

I never forgot that, year after year, as more people would die.

My very best friend died, Cam Solari, at a very early stage, while on OT 7.

Ed Mooney, OT 8, again, a good friend, was the first OT 8 to die of
aenuerism (spelling?)....again...in his 30s.

While "in", I knew 3 young people who took their own lives, one who was a VERY good friend of mine and my best friend's child.

Ahhhhhhhhh...I could go on and on, but you get the picture.

It's tragic, really. People join Scientology for "Freedom" and die
in their hands....and unless they were considered an "Opinion Leader"
(someone well known), Scientology just sweeps them under the rug,
literally, rarely telling anyone. It's **really** gross.

Blessings to your friend. May she find the peace she was seeking
now ~~:love7: :cya:

Tory/Magoo~~

Paula first joined Scientology at the DC Org.
I knew her at the NY Org 1977-1980
She was Sea Org for a while but was "routed out" due to psych history.
From what she told me, she did some training at Flag and spent 1980's through 2006 in LA as an auditor for AOLA and ASHO
From the way she spoke, she was proud of her work as an auditor.
I imagine she did help some people as the whole point of therapy is someone to listen to you.

It amazed me during our phone conversations during her illness how she still obviously believed in Scientology and was torn between enjoying our conversations and our renewed friendship after so many years, yet still felt an obligation to try and "handle" me. Her Scientology belief system was so strongly entrenched in her consciousness. I played along, keeping it as a light hearted intellectual debate. I had no desire to cause her any stress during this time.
I am happy to have been part of her last days of happiness and near normalcy before the cancer fully took over and took her life.

Oh my god.

I didn't know Paula had cancer.

She was a very good friend of mine when she was an auditor in PAC.

She wasn't very old, either. Now she would be maybe in her early 50s.

How sad.

(Some of you may remember her as Paula Ueckermann. She was married to Vic Ueckermann for a while in the late 80s or so.)

ZenWarrior,

Thank you for posting this brief, elegant eulogy. I've read it a couple times each day that it's been posted and thought good thoughts for her and her life. I hope the certainty that she had was a comfort to her. I trust that she is free and serene now.

FWIW: The whole cigarette thing was something that Hubbard and Scientology never "handled." It was a huge glaring outpoint and was one of the first clues to start snapping me out of it.

Dianetics, Scientology and The Purif are very concerned with removing things (engrams, toxins, charge, BT's)... cleansing. It was a huge disconnect to see all these people puffing like chimneys... loading up there fat cells, skin pores, lungs, etc. with highly toxic tars, smoke and nicotine.

She had just turned 60, and according to her "still looked great"
I had heard she was married for a while.
What does PAC mean?

Thank you for the good thoughts, Paula desreves it.

Smoking was OK in Scientology because ElRon smoked.
I smoked in my early 20's when I was in Scientology and it reminds me...
Remember the "LRH Office" that every org had?
There was always a pack of Kools on the desk.
One night when I was on staff at NY Fdn I had night watch and I smoked one of ElRon's Kools and put the butt out in the ashtray that was on the desk. The next night I heard that the Day Staff had found it and flipped out and at their muster demanded to know who would dare smoke one of the exalted one's Kool cigarettes. At this point in time I knew Scientology was just a wacky cult and chalked it up in my mind as another personal win. However, I did not go to the Examiner to write a Success Story, but I did secretly laugh about it for days.... :D

That's beautiful! Image

I knew it! Someone would bum Rons fags! - I was sorely tempted to do that, but chickened out.. Mewhahaha.

This is a wrong thread to ROTFL in.

I never knew Paula. She was a good person I'm sure. R.I.P

NEED HELP FOR PAULA QUIGLEY RIP

Post by ZenWarrior » Thu Apr 30, 2009 3:42 pm

I received this E Mail regarding my post on Paula Quigley’s death:

Hello,

My name is Alejandro Herrera and I would first like to express my condolences at your loss.

I have been assigned by The Alpha Society of Burbank (http://www.thealphasociety.com/) the task of tracking down the next of kin of Paula Quigley, whose corporeal remains are currently housed at our facility. Despite my best efforts I have been unable to contact Stacy Wells, who has Power of Attorney in this case.

From your forum entry on Operation Clambake (viewtopic.php?t=24239) I have gathered that you knew her and may be able to help me in my efforts.

Any information you may have on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

~Alex

Direct Line: (818) 972-9249

I can legally release her remains to you if you can furnish me with a note of some sort, for my records, signed by Stacy Wells saying, in effect, "I Stacy Wells authorize XYZ to pick up the remains of Paula Quigley and dispose them at sea off the coast of Los Angeles as per her final wishes."

Does anyone know who this Stacy Wells is?
I assume she is a scientologist, and thus, is a brainwashed piece of shit, that probably agreed to Power of Attorney over Paula when she was incapacitated in her final days of lung cancer, only to steal what little she had. Now even though Paula gave 40 of her 60 years on this planet to misguidingly helping scientology, the pieces of shit that call themselves scientologists cannot have a smidgen of decency and do a simple act of compassion like obtain and properly dispose of her remains at the coastline of the Pacific Ocean, her last and only dying wish.

I have offerred to do this but I have no legal standing.
Only the power of attorney, Stacy Wells can OK the release of Paula's remains.
Does anyone know this piece of shit scientologist Stacy Wells?
Do I sound a little angry?
No, I am a lot angry.
These MF scientologists disgust me!

You know, the Ex-Scientologist community spends a great deal of time talking about how fucked up and disgusting scientology is.
Well here is a real life example, and we need to mobilize and actually DO SOMETHING GOOD as opposed to just blah blah blah about it
Arnie Lerma - are you out there? You make things happen.
Do you have any info or ideas?

I recall there was a Stacey Pitler in CLO WUS who married Beckett Wells after he got off the RPF in 2003. This could be her using her married name. Am I reading this right? Paula died in 2007 and next of kin has not yet been notified?
