(To Kansas??) to sell Hubbard's pseudo science to the uninformed. Someone needs to inform them.
A former addict who went from "All-American boy" to addict and back again will be the featured speaker at Clay Counts' town hall meeting Tuesday (April 7)
The event, called to announce the results of a $455,000 grant to the community to fight underage drinking and drug abuse, is set for 6:15 p.m. at the United Methodist Church Family Life Center.
Clay Counts is the grassroots group organized a year ago to combat underage drinking
The speaker, John Bitinas, is a young man who might have been a member of any number of Clay county families, according to Mayor Sharon Brown.
"John went from being an All-American boy to addict and back again. His story will speak to every parent, every teacher and every law enforcement officer who has tried to save a young person from their own self-destruction," Brown said in a news release.
A baseball player, Boy Scout and gymnast, Bitinas started drinking beer and then using marijuana to fit in with an older crowd when he was only twelve years old.
By the time he graduated from high school Bitinas was an alcoholic and daily hard drug user. During an intervention his family told him about the Narconon Arrowhead program in Oklahoma where he could get help.
